About the Instructor:
Mark Badger, a cartoonist who has done comics for over thirty years, loves to teach comics. In classes and workshops he provides an overview of the fun and challenges of drawing comics. He provides basic tools to set up a story, master drawing and complete stories. His goal for students is to have them create the kind of comics they would love to read from memoir, funny animal to super-heroes.
Badger has drawn assorted superhero comics from Batman: Jazz and Run Riddler Run to Spiderman Online for AOL and Marvel, among others during the 80's and 90's.The super heroes were often confronted by unusual issues such as jazz, racism, gentrification, sweat shops, and unions along with confronting the more usual threats of giant robots, dastardly villains and monsters. His online comics led to game and web development along with teaching ActionScript and HTML for 15 years. He's returned to comics by adapting William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and working on Abstract Kirby, which melds his lifelong interests of Jack Kirby, storytelling and abstraction. His latest work is a series of superhero stories called Worldly Wind Farts, and Just Draw, a manual, to help artists get their work done.
